*FIREPLUG CDI to replace the 8R4 CDI used on some YAMAHA snowmobile models from 1986 thru mid 90’s* .
This is a new CDI offering for a number of Yamaha sleds. However, we have not yet had time to research all the applications. If your CDI is stamped 8R4 on the end, or has white stampings such as (81E-MO 69R or 80F-MO) on the box, this is probably the replacement. contact us to confirm. The 8R4 used different connectors and wire colors over the years, which we can match, if you specify the configuration ahead of purchase or include the detail when you purchase. We’re trying to get all the models out and available as we develop them.
This FIREPLUG CDI replaces CDI # 8R4 models with bullet connector and the other Yazaki type 3-position white plug models. Best to e-mail us a pic of your CDI / wiring colors & terminals before ordering.

Possibly fits other models into the 90’s. Check for stamping on OEM CDI box for 8R4, then note the type of connectors used for fitment.
There was an added throttle position sensor wire that tied into the CDI kill-switch wiring. This was a safety function to eliminate engine start if throttle wasn’t fully closed. We do not include this function (Blk/Yel wire in plastic plug), however the Fireplug CDI will plug directly to your existing harness and operate otherwise. It just won’t have the throttle cut-off feature available.
