Look on side of OEM CDI for the 8N4 stamped or molded on the CDI enclosure. Also check wire colors and connector types for match.

NOTE: FIREPLUG CDI is similar in size to OEM and will fit into original rubber mounting boot-strap

If your stator resistance matches below, then the 8N4-type is likely the CDI you need.
Stator resistance values: +/- ~20%:
TRIGGER : Black to Red/White = 20 ohms
CHARGE : Black to Brown = 1400 ohms (1.4KΩ)

After 1984 there was an added throttle position sensor that tied into the CDI kill-switch wiring. This was a safety function to eliminate engine start if throttle wasn’t fully closed. This CDI required a round plastic 2-pin connector (see below). We can provide the plastic plug if your model requires it, but we need to know this prior to ordering.
