DESIGN BACKGROUND: The SRX FIREPLUG CDI is a High-Performance replacement CDI for your Vintage Yamaha SRX. The FIREPLUG CDI mounts in the original location and connects directly to your factory harness.
The FIREPLUG CDI provides a higher energy output at the plugs than the stock CDI. This translates to quicker starting, better throttle response, stronger pull & cleaner burning with higher performance SRX engines.
A bolt-on & plug-in premium ignition upgrade that follows factory timing profile while delivering more energy & reliability!
PERFORMANCE: We received POSITIVE feedback over the years on our FIREPLUG CDI. Stronger mid-range pull is noticeable with the FIREPLUG CDI compared to the stock SRX CDI.
The FIREPLUG CDI is manufactured using the best industrial-grade components available. The FIREPLUG is not a high-volume / mass-produced imported device. Every CDI unit is manufactured in Michigan, tested and shipped directly to you. It doesn’t exist until an order is received.
NOTE: PLEASE SPECIFY YEAR WHEN ORDERING 1977~1979 or 1980 FIREPLUG CDI.
THE 1980 CDI IS DIFFERENT THAN 1977~1979 SO YEAR MUST BE SPECIFIED TO GET THE CORRECT FIREPLUG CDI UNIT.
SRX STATOR VALUES: Check your stator value using an ohm-meter; Remove CDI, measure engine harness wires (colors listed) using the OHM’s / Resistance settings on the multi-meter. Do not pull over or rotate engine during this measurement.
1977:
BROWN to RED = 44Ω
RED to W/RED = 28Ω
W/RED to BROWN = 73Ω
1978/79:
BROWN to RED = 175Ω
RED to W/RED = 10Ω
W/RED to BROWN = 185Ω
1980:
BROWN to RED = 225Ω
RED to W/RED = 10Ω
W/RED to BROWN = 235Ω
Note: We have found some 1980 SRX models matched the 1979 stator resistance, even though they were an 1980 numbered stator plate. Possibly a carry-over with inventory.
Please specify your stator resistance for 1980 models.
